Mechanical Edit - Level One ($0.01 per word) and Level Two (.014 per word)
The difference between Level One and Level Two is simply the amount of errors found. For manuscripts submitted for Level One and requiring significant changes, a Level Two edit may be suggested. In these cases, we reserve the right to reject manuscripts deemed inappropriate for a particular service. NOTE: This service requires you to have Microsoft Word (version '97 or later).
Level One ($0.01 per word) - View Samples
(Only available if recommended by Editorial Analysis)
Our editor will:
- Correct errors in grammar and punctuation.
- Correct average to minor errors in syntax (i.e., the ordering of and relationship between the words and other structural elements in phrases and sentences.).
- Query phrases and word choices deemed inappropriate for the subject matter or readership.
- Flag instances where permission from an outside source may be needed.
- Correct commonly known errors, such as changing The Johnny Carson Show to The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.
Our editor will not:
- Restructure more than minor sentence structure issues.
- Significantly alter word choices. We will, however, suggest that the author change these items to make them more appropriate to the readership.

Mechanical & Content Edit Level Three ($0.017 per word) - View Samples
For a Level Three, you will receive your manuscript back with all comments from the editor and you may accept or reject the changes. If you feel that you will need a “dialogue” with the editor, or that the editor looks at your manuscript again, Level Four is what you need. NOTE: This service requires you to have Microsoft Word (version '97 or later).
Our editor will:
- Correct errors in grammar and punctuation.
- Correct errors in syntax in regard to sentence structure. In certain instances, the editor may suggest the author change the sentence structure in order to preserve the intended meaning.
- Alter phrases and word choices deemed inappropriate for the subject matter or readership.
- Flag instances where permission from an outside source may be needed.
- Promote accuracy of content by providing light research as warranted. (i.e., look up biblical quotes, common statistics, etc.)
- Preserve plot line, character traits, and consistency throughout.
- Flag minor instances where the material strays from the intended purpose.
- Maintain development documents to maintain plot line and character traits in fiction titles.
- For nonfiction manuscripts, the editor will preserve consistency throughout by noting author’s individual theories, title-specific terminology, etc.
Our editor will not:
- Reorganize paragraphs to make the material more logical to the reader. If this is required, a heavy substantive edit is more appropriate.
- Provide a full fact check to the document. Only easy to find facts are checked by the editor.
